In an effort to get food to families and people struggling with food insecurity, the members of the Rochester Democratic Town Committee donated food for Damien's Pantry which serves Rochester and neighboring communities. The RDTC believes the "Freedom to Read" is a fundamental right to access information, ideas, and diverse viewpoints through reading, protected by the First Amendment, championed by organizations like Authors Against Book Bans, the American Library Association (ALA) , and the Freedom to Read Foundation (FTRF), and promoted through events like the Right to Read Day on 10/11/2025 to counter censorship and promote open inquiry in libraries. The Rochester Democratic Town Committee supports our teachers and students throughout the year starting with a late summer school supply drive supplementing classroom needs. We also support our Rochester Memorial School teachers throughout the year and especially during Teacher Appreciation Week. This year we gathered, through donations, $1500 worth of supplies!
